My problem with the current mainstream Battle Royales are that they're a bit too outrageous I guess would be the right word to describe them. I'm not really into the hero-shooter style of Apex Legends and Warzone going full-on literal clown shoes has turned me off to it, as well as the reputation its had of cheaters and hackers. I played PUBG for a bit, tried Warzone back when it was introduced in Black Ops, tried Apex Legends, but none of them really stuck with me. So as someone like that, while I at first rolled my eyes and sighed at yet another Battle Royale and upon watching the reveal trailer.I ended up coming back a couple hours later to look at the full announcement video with a bit of intrigue. I missed out on a bunch of the early games, played Future Soldier, really liked it, wish Ubisoft would do something like that again instead of Wildlands and the atrocious Breakpoint, but otherwise that's more or less my experience with the Ghost Recon franchise. However, I am not really a dedicated Ghost Recon fan. I certainly understand the absolute loathing that the news has incited as this would hardly be the first franchise that has gone on to do the opposite of what fans wanted a return to. Fans hate it, having wanted a return to a single player-driven campaign for the next game, apparently heard from a couple leaks that it may be what they were getting with Frontline, only to have another Battle Royale dropped into their laps instead. So I heard about Ghost Recon Frontline a couple days after the announcement and dropping of the trailers.
